OK – well, obviously September not realistic now. A new suggestion is around January 25th – for obvious reasons. We’ve got too suggested venues: 1) Edinburgh – possibly at the National e-Science centre http://www.nesc.ac.uk/index.html 2) St Andrews – I think they have got permission to host the event Can we get feedback on these – […]

Hi Vicki – I don’t think that necessarily it shows St Andrews wouldn’t be popular, but from my own perspective Edinburgh is, of course, easier to get to! I can’t stress enough that getting a date and a venue is the key – people won’t commit (and often won’t be able to get work to sign off attendance) until you have at least the date and venue

At the suggestion of @jesus (!) I’ve added an extension to the wiki to enable code syntax highlighting so that code can be made more readable. To use the highlighting, wrap all code in a tag as follows <code lang=”” number=”” startat=”” range=””> The parameters are as follows: lang = language the code is from – […]

Any views on this? Past events have had a wide range of formats. I think all have had at least some invited speakers, but then have varied – what would people like to see (bearing in mind it will depend on what can be organised)? Plenary talks? Workshops (led by a name individual)? Freetime to […]

Thanks Helen – it was James who suggested the link to the Repository Fringe event :), and I’ve had the venue highly recommended by others as well… but do you think the closeness to the end of the festival will be an issue for accommodation etc?

This is probably the key question for an event. One suggestion is that we could do it just before the Repository Fringe event on 2/3 Sept 2010 in Edinburgh (http://www.repositoryfringe.org/) – so this would mean September 1st 2010. However, this is obviously straight after the Edinburgh Festival – would this be a problem, or should […]
