I already got through step1 and would read the blog on the vufind site to see how far I would get

Sorry – my bad. I didn’t get much feedback after doing the first post, and didn’t manage to find the time/energy to do the remaining ones. I also don’t have a Windows PC at the moment, so can’t run through the steps right now. If you’ve done step 1 here, you are basically ready to […]

I started toying with Vufind about a day ago. I was excited joining this forum. But it seems like it is currently dormant going by the last post. My assumption is that everyone has successfully completed the Vufind project. If so, please can someone update steps 2 through 4.
Thanks -

It’s been a long time coming – but it’s finally here – sign up to Haggis and Mash now at http://www.nesc.ac.uk/esi/events/1114/ – 25th Jan at the NeSC e-Science Institute in Edinburgh. We are running this event under the banner ‘Open Edge’ with another event on Open Source software in libraries on the 26th Jan in […]

I am happy to demo or run a hands-on workshop on setting up faceted search UI + infrastructure based on the work of JISC UX2. The session would involve setting up Blacklight UI, getting it to federate content from Google Books/Zemanta, and deploying Fedora repository and Solr search service. The systems would also be deployed […]

If people are interested, I can present the open source enrichment plug-in that I have written for Ex Libris Primo. The plug-in works with raw XML data as well as an HTTP based GET request to a Solr search server for data. I am happy to run a live demonstration as well.

Sure we can do that – am quite happy to do some stuff on use of Evergreen with pre-installed system, Paul Johnson could equally easily include or do something parallel on installing from scratch & getting data into a new install – surprisingly straightforward & very quick indeed if you do it from a base […]

That would be great Mark – definitely take you up on this, so please keep 25th free! For those who just want to dive straight in with the client (and not worry about the install) perhaps we could have at least one system up and running in advance?

As per recent twitter convo, we could do something on installing Evergreen image in virtual box (from http://bit.ly/ddGqjP), putting some marc & item data in there & runnning the Evergreen client against it to give people a hands on look at the system.. with a small amount of work we could probably also hook up […]

We are collaborating with JISC and SCONUL on Haggis and Mash now, bringing a specific (but not sole) focus on Open Source in libraries. I’ve posted a (very) draft agenda at http://www.mashedlibrary.com/wiki/index.php?title=Haggis_and_Mash We’ve got some ideas for filling speaking slots, but suggestions for both speakers and what people would like…[Read more]

Since it has been a bit quiet on this front, I just thought I’d post to confirm the event is definitely going ahead, 25th Jan at the NeSC e-Science Institute in Edinburgh. Sessions and format is under active discussion at the moment and hope to have something to post very soon.

I personally enjoyed the topic mapping presentation that Michael Fourman gave at the Repository Fringe event recently – slightly out of the comfort zone of most of the repo folks, but has huge potential.
Also very happy to help with organisation if you like…..
