I already got through step1 and would read the blog on the vufind site to see how far I would get

Sorry – my bad. I didn’t get much feedback after doing the first post, and didn’t manage to find the time/energy to do the remaining ones. I also don’t have a Windows PC at the moment, so can’t run through the steps right now. If you’ve done step 1 here, you are basically ready to […]

I started toying with Vufind about a day ago. I was excited joining this forum. But it seems like it is currently dormant going by the last post. My assumption is that everyone has successfully completed the Vufind project. If so, please can someone update steps 2 through 4.
Thanks -

I’ve posted the first installment of the Virtual bootcamp on the wiki at http://www.mashedlibrary.com/wiki/index.php?title=VuFind_Virtual_Bootcamp Step 1 covers (at the moment for Windows only) the installation of Apache, MySQL, PHP, PEAR and Smarty (and tries to explain what they are). Sounds a lot, but by using a pre-packaged installation called…[Read more]

For a Windows install, you’ll need enough rights to be able to install software, update a few environment variables and start some new services running (e.g. MySQL and Apache).

I’m not 100% sure about needing admin access on Windows, and of course if you already have some of the components installed by default, this may get around the need, but I’d be a bit suprised if we can manage an install without Admininstrator access. I haven’t done a Mac install – but hey, surely […]

I’ve done quick vufind installs on CentOs and on laptops with gentoo linux (never on windows) so I’ll happily help out if anyone is stuck on a linux install. Which is unlikely – it should be pretty straightforward.

Hm, don’t have admin access at work. Could do it from home where I’d be on OSX, and would have to download some MARC records to home computer.

1) A computer. You’ll probably need admin rights on the computer to install everything you need for VuFind… I’m guessing most people will have Windows? Any OS X or Linux users? 2) Some time. What I’m thinking is I’ll try and split up the activity into about 30 minute chunks, for which I’ll post instructions […]
